LEAD MAINTENANCE
A full-time position is open for Lead Maintenance at the Des Moines County Maintenance Department. Applicants must have good mechanical skills and be willing to perform labor indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Basic knowledge and experience in mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, painting, grounds keeping (including mowing and snow removal), power equipment operation and maintenance, and best safety and construction practices. Requires frequent lifting, moving, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 75lbs. Requires frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Work involves exposure to unusual elements, extreme temperatures, heights, and confined spaces. Computer proficiency in Microsoft and basic computer applications. Must have basic mathematical skills. Post-secondary courses in job-related areas such as construction trades, supervision, and five years of experience in facilities maintenance, preferred.
Candidate must have high school diploma or equivalent. Must pass background check, have valid current driver license, and be insurable on the County’s insurance. Must be able to work a rotating 24/7 On-Call schedule and overtime as needed.
Must be capable of performing duties inside the Des Moines County Correctional Facility, working around inmates.
Starting Salary will be $17.91/hour. Excellent benefit package including Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and IPERS retirement.
