NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS

TO ADOPT DES MOINES COUNTY ORDINANCE #64 -

REGULATIONS FOR THE SITING AND OPERATION OF

WIND, SOLAR, AND BATTERY ENERGY SYSTEMS

 

            Notice is hereby given that Supervisors of Des Moines County, Iowa, will hold a

Public Hearing on January 6th, 2026, at 9:00 A.M.in the Board of Supervisors meeting room on the 2nd Floor at the Des Moines County Courthouse, 513 N. Main St., Burlington, IA. The purpose of the public hearing is for public comments regarding the adoption of Des Moines County Ordinance #64. The purpose of this Ordinance is to establish a set of minimum standards for the siting, placement, construction, installation, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of utility-scale Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Systems, in order to protect the public health, safety and community welfare of the residents of Des Moines County.

 

            Following the public hearing, the Board of Supervisors will consider and vote on the proposed amendment, and there will be three readings at the Board’s regular meetings on January 6, January 13, and January 20, 2026, all at 9:00 A.M. in the Board of Supervisors Meeting Room, Des Moines County Courthouse. The third reading may be waived by a vote of the Board, in accordance with Chapter 331.302, Section 6(a) of Iowa Code. If approved by a majority of the Supervisors, the ordinance becomes effective following newspaper publication

 

A paper copy of Ordinance No. 64 is on file and available in the Auditor’s Office for public inspection or available on the county website at www.dmcounty.com.

 

Any member of the public may express his or her views on the proposed Ordinance during the public hearing in person or by an authorized representative.  Written comments or objections may be filed with the Des Moines County Auditor, 513 N Main St., Burlington prior to the time set for the hearing or any time prior to the closing of the hearing.

Outbreak Investigation of Infant Botulism: Infant Formula (November 2025) Do not use recalled ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula. FDA’s Investigation is ongoing.

posted 11/19/25 · Public Health All ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula products have been recalled. This includes all unexpired lots of formula cans and single-serve “anywhere pack” sticks. ByHeart infant formula products makes up approximately 1% of all infant formula sold in the United States and this outbreak does not create shortage concerns of infant formula for parents and caregivers.

Iowa HHS Announces Investigation of Legionnaires’ Disease Cluster in Marshalltown

posted 9/12/25 · Public Health The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (Iowa HHS) is investigating a cluster of Legionnaires’ disease cases among individuals living in north central Marshalltown. Since the beginning of the investigation, 21 individuals have been diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease and an older adult with underlying health conditions has died. Iowa HHS shares our condolences to the family and friends of this individual.
