Board of Adjustment
View Des Moines County's Board of Adjustment meeting minutes and agendas.
The Board of Adjustment is responsible for reviewing requests for Variances, Special Use Permits, and Appeals for decisions made by the Land Use Department. Unlike the Zoning Commission, which makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, all decisions made by the Board of Adjustment are final, pending appeal to the District Court. All members must reside within Des Moines County, but outside the corporate limits of any city. In addition, a majority of the 5 members must reside within the jurisdiction of the County Zoning Ordinance (within 2 miles of the City of Burlington).
